The IRS has provided tax relief for victims of Hurricane Ian throughout Florida. The relief is provided to individuals and households that reside or have a business anywhere in the state of Florida. Affected individuals and businesses now have until 2/15/23 to file returns and pay any taxes that were originally due during the relief period. This includes all returns normally due on or after 9/23/22 and before 2/15/23 including (1) quarterly estimated income tax payments; (2) quarterly payroll and excise tax returns; and (3) individual and business returns with valid extensions. In addition, penalties on payroll and excise tax deposits due on or after 9/23/22 and before 10/10/22 will be abated, as long as the deposits are made by 10/10/22.
