About the IRSAC
Established in 1953, the IRSAC serves as a vital platform for dialogue on tax administration, offering feedback, observations, and recommendations to IRS leadership. The council comprises representatives from various sectors, including the taxpaying public, tax professionals, businesses of all sizes, tax-exempt organizations, and government entities. This diversity ensures a comprehensive perspective on tax-related matters.

The IRSAC’s primary mission is to bridge the gap between the public and the IRS, providing actionable insights to address challenges in tax administration. The council’s diverse composition is designed to ensure it remains an effective and representative body, capable of tackling emerging issues and driving meaningful improvements.

The 2025 IRSAC will convene regularly throughout the year to deliberate on key tax administration topics. Their collaborative efforts will culminate in an annual report, scheduled for submission in November 2025 during a public meeting. This report will encapsulate the council’s findings and recommendations, contributing to the ongoing evolution of the IRS’s practices and policies.
