Based in the firm’s Fairfield office, Jeff is Bederson’s Tax Partner-in-charge. He has over 20 years’ of experience in the areas of complex domestic and international tax issues; specifically in matters affecting inbound and outbound transactions of foreign-owned U.S. Corporations and U.S.-owned controlled foreign operations. He has significant experience in international tax compliance and has assisted more than 300 clients with the Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program. Jeff also represents two Financial Institutions before the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) pursuant to the DOJ Program for non-Prosecution Agreements or non-Target letters for Swiss banks.
In addition to assisting clients with international tax matters, Jeff provides domestic clients with accounting, auditing and business advisory services. Among his industry specializations are construction and demolition, insurance brokerage, financial professionals and high net worth families.
Jeff is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of New Jersey. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA), the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) and the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA). Jeff is admitted to practice before the United States (U.S.) Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
A designated International Tax Resource of AGN International (an exclusive world-wide association of independent accounting firms), Jeff has written and spoken extensively on a full spectrum of tax-related matters with particular emphasis on Voluntary Disclosure. Jeff also gained full STEP (a global professional association for practitioners who specialize in family inheritance and succession planning) membership in 2019. Full members, known as TEPs are internationally recognized as experts in their field, with proven qualifications and experience. He has served as an adjunct professor at the Samuel J. Silberman College of Business Administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University and the Rutgers University Graduate School of Management.
From 2010 to 2014, Jeff served as a presenter at New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) seminars on ethics and tax planning.
Jeff was named to NJBIZ’s 2009 “Forty Under 40 Class” which recognizes New Jersey’s most dynamic business leaders under the age of 40.
He earned a B.S. in Accounting from William Paterson University and a J.D. and LL.M. (Taxation) from New York Law School.
Jeff and his family reside in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey.
